StairCase is committed to excellence in the music industry, You should be too...
We have a great panel of judges that get excited every time they find a potential hit.
Song Writers...
We are pleased to inform you that we are looking for material for our library. Unlike many other companies we are not going to promise you anything. We will not try to get you to spend hundreds of dollars to make you a demo. We are serious about our catalog and that means we are willing to work to promote your songs. As we have stated we will never charge you more than the twenty dollar evaluation fee.
Why Do You Charge An Evaluation Fee?
It takes many, many, man hours to go through all the songs and evaluate them. We want to keep an excellent evaluation team and that means our judges must be paid. Not only do our judges evaluate your songs but they help prepare them for marketing. In the event a song has potential, but is not ready for our library our songwriting team will assist us, (and you) in preparing your song. Also we charge a fee so that we can purchase top of the line recording equipment and keep up with the sound quality of the bigger publishing companies.
If You Believe Your Song Is Marketable Send It To Us, It Just May Be!
We will inform you of the potential of your song and the next steps that needs to be taken. If we ask you to sign a contract with us, it will be because we think your song will sell, and we will be taking the necessary steps to market and promote it to artists, publishers, commercial contacts, etc. You will not be expected to pay anything, this is a coop and we are going to be working toward the same end. Marketing and getting great songs out there that otherwise may never be heard by the public is our goal.
Does A Big Publishing Company Really Need Just People Off The Street?
We are not a big publishing company, we are a group of songwriters that believe that if enough people work with us we can become the biggest thing to hit the music industry. We have people in Nashville who are skilled in recording and people in the Tulsa area that have studied the music laws and copyright laws. What we now need is the power to walk into any door in the business and have them know who we are. That’s where you come in. Your faith in us and your $20.00 helps us to keep working on it and helps to update our recording equipment. Your talent will give us songs that searching artists will want, so why spend thousand of dollars on trying to get your songs heard when working together we can make this so affordable and so easy. This company pledges to never forget the little guy , it doesn’t matter how big we get, EVERYONE will be heard and have an equal chance of making it. For years to come stars will be born, and the big companies will not be able to push us out if we all work together to build this company. We also REALLY want to hear your ideas and thoughts, because this is your business too, and many heads are better than a few.
What Does StairCase Specialize In?
Most of us like Gospel, and spreading a good message is our passion, but we do all genres. We will accept all kinds of songs but we will not deal in songs that have a hate message, bad language, or songs against our country. We are in business to make a profit, to grow and become a life line to songwriters out there that do not have one, but we will not sell our souls to the devil to get there. That is why our staff and partners were so carefully picked, so that there can be no doubt about are policies, and to assure that our policies will never be changed.
Why Will StairCase Accept A Bad Demo When Most Publishers Won't?
Have you ever paid someone to turn your lyrics into a masterpiece? I bet they didn’t put the heart in to it that you wanted. I personally am a writer and I have paid thousands of dollars trying to get a demo that I liked. Here is what happens in most publishing companies; you finally get your break, and get your song to a publisher and it starts with inferior music. It hit’s the trash before they ever hear the lyrics because it is not up to their standards. There is little chance that you are great in everything, we listen to the whole work and then evaluate the song in parts., if you are good at any one thing we will know it. We are getting some great lyrics, but very few are ready to go just as they are to the next level. As we told you before on our site, if you are a good lyricist just sing it on a tape and get it into us. If we get the idea, we will evaluate it and if it is good enough we will go with it, if it is not ready, but you have a great lyrical work then we have the people who can make it what it needs to be. There are literally thousands of songs out there in publishing companies trash cans that had huge potential but just were not ready, and we all know that the big guys do not bother to work on songs with potential because they get so much stuff that they turn away some great songs. We will NEVER turn away a song, because we realize it could be a #1 hit right under our noses.
Can You Steal Our Song?
It is a well known fact that a lot of songs get pirated, but if you follow the directions that we give you on our site you can protect yourselves.
What good would it do you to write a song and never let anyone hear it? By law your song is copyrighted the moment it is put on paper, but to protect yourself completely you need a copyright in Washington D. C. There are also lawyers who protect you, as well as sites like BMI who protect you song and your royalties and make sure they are paid to you. We have a link to those sites as well as a service to help you in case you just don’t know how to copyright or do not have the time to do it. We started this site because of song sharks and people trying to steal from the little guy. On the other hand I know people who burn off music C.D’s and try to keep from paying for them and I believe the artists needs to get his fair share also, so the little guy needs to do what’s right also. If we all do what’s right then the industry will stay strong and there will be many more prosperous days ahead for us all.
One other thing, some of the writers on our panel save every step of the songs they write, that way if anyone says it was their song, the real writer can go back and show a judge how they wrote the song, all of it’s changes and the stages of it’s evolution. This makes it very hard for someone trying to pirate your song to convince a judge that it was their work.
